Pines

Though previous owners cultivated hardwoods on our property, pine trees dominated the composition of the region's original forests.  White pines tend to be most common, but yellow pines are not afraid to stand tall upon the ridgelines.

As we develop our farm, we are also restoring our portion of the forest to its original disposition, removing most hardwoods so that pines may flourish as originally intended.  We are going to harvest the pines as necessary to sustain a healthy forest and to maximize tree growth.
